APC Lambast PDP For Hijacking Fedral Government Appointments

The national vice chairman, South South, of the All Progressives Congress, Ntufam Hilliard Eta, has expressed annoyance that the People’s Democratic Party has not only hijacked federal appointments but was treating the APC-led government officials with disdain.
Speaking yesterday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, during the ongoing tour of zonal executive committee (ZEC) to state chapters, Eta said the PDP was making “political capital” out of the magnanimity of the Buhari-led government.
He said that, despite the fact that PDP members were politically reaping from where they did not sow through federal government’s appointments, PDP members, such as the Head of Service of the federation and the federal Auditor-General were working closely with the PDP-led Cross River state government and patronising them while members of the APC are not carried along.
The zonal chair said jobs, which APC members could have benefitted from, were always being made available to PDP members despite the fact that those officers from Cross River state were appointees of the APC-led federal government.
Eta also described as “politically nonsensical” what he called the ‘short-changing’ of the APC by the Akwa Ibom government during the visit of vice president Yemi Osinbajo to Uyo to commemorate the state’s 30th anniversary.
“No narrative whatsoever can be made to win the argument that we, as a governing party, were insulted, psychologically assaulted and treated with disdain”, he submitted, and added that the party leadership would meet with the vice president to address the issue.
He chided those running a parallel structure in Akwa Ibom and submitted that the party at the national level recognises the Dr. Amadu Attai-led state executive committee.
The zonal chairman berated the Cross River government for playing hide and seek with the local government polls which he said, has been shifted twice since Governor Ben Ayade came on board, adding that the APC in the state was determined to take over in 2019.
“If we cannot do it now with the array of political heavyweight in the party, it means we will not be able to upstage them again. We know APC has what it takes and is very ready to take over Government House, but we must speak with one voice and eschew every form of infighting,” Eta advised.
Eta said the APC observed what it saw as ‘a flawed reward system of the party’ and assured that all would be addressed soon to enable the party sustain the tempo in subsequent polls.
