*UGHELLI* - There is palpable tension and uneasiness within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state as some of its top members in Ughelli North decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) last Saturday, 9th September 2017.

A prominent Chieftain of the PDP in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state, Olorogun (Amb.) Henry Ovoke Oshasha led thousands of other members to the APC.

The event started with a  mini rally round the streets of Ughelli where thousands of residents trooped out to cheer the crowd and also express their hopes and demands from the APC once we take over Delta in 2019.

After the rally, the armada of party supporters in a convoy of more than 500 vehicles, 2000 bikes and more than 3000 foot soldiers were led by the Executive Director of Projects - NDDC, Chief Engr. Samuel Adjogbe and Olorogun Jaro Egbo to the Palatial residence of Chief Austin Uloho where the formal reception took place. The new decampees were welcomed into the APC by Chief Adelabu Bodjor, Delta Central APC Chairman, Olorogun Felix Ekure, Ughelli North APC Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo KSC, Chief Dr. Ominimini Obiuwevbi, Prince Edewor Akpedafe, Delta APC Treasurer, and other party Chieftains.

Olorogun Oshasha said they were tired of a party that has become a center of lawlessness and roguery.

“We are tired of PDP in Delta State; We are tired of being Governed by people who cannot pay workers’ salaries, who cannot provide good health care, who cannot provide adequate security for lives and prosperity, who cannot complete meaningful projects that can change the economic activities of Ughelli North.

“Ughelli is a Central town that connects many other towns together yet we cannot boast of durable roads in our communities. All projects that were started in Ughelli were abandoned by this Ifeanyi Okowa government.

“If you go out there right now, you will see Deltans struggling to survive despite the huge allocations that come to Delta State"

He urged Deltans to embrace Candidates that are passionate about changing society for good rather than supporting rogues and lawless Leaders who do not wish Deltans well."

Olorogun Adelabu Bodjor said the decision of the large number of decampees to dump the PDP has brought an end to the PDP in the Local Government even as more residents are warming up to finally dislodge the PDP in the the next Council election and the 2019 general elections.

Olorogun Jaro Egbo said the mass defection was an attestation to the fact that the APC will win the next Council election in the LGA and assured the defectors of equal treatment. He described the PDP as a party that is bedeviled by a systemic problem without a solution and urged the new decampees to note that they have come to a party that has the interest of its members at heart.

Meanwhile, Chief Austin Uloho who hosted the event, declared that the PDP is dead in Ughelli following the mass defection of members of the party to the APC.
