Anambra 2017: The Tony Nwoye Candidacy, The APC Rebirth And Next Line Of Action By Tony One Week

The recent APC guber primary can best be captured by the words of the American constitutional lawyer and conservative activist Late Phyllis Schlafly who said:

 "What you learn from my life is, first of all that anybody can be a leader. I wasn't born that way. I developed it. I worked at it. And also that the grassroots can organize and take on the powers that be and defeat them. That is the lesson".

Yes. "...the grassroots can organize and take on the powers that be and defeat them". If I talk now, they will say I have come again. Lol. But the truth is that nearly the entire powers that be in APC never really  fancied Tony Nwoye as APC candidate (for reasons best known to them). I was called all sorts of names here when I was marketing Tony's kariability. (Excuse my jargon. I am a kegite). Unfortunately for them, the results of every free and fair election displays the potency and defiant dynamism of the grassroots.

As a passionate member of the APC in Anambra state, I will say the truth has set us free. The truth that the grassroot is supreme. The truth that Anambra north should be allowed at least four more years before we go south. The truth that only a popular grassroot politician will stand a chance against the incumbent. The truth that our party is now APC and no more ACN. The truth. The truth and nothing but the truth.

The battle line is now clearly drawn and we know the three major contenders... Obiano, Obaze and Nwoye, all from the northern zone of Anambra. Yes. It's not a crime if (like in Enugu state) in every guber election year we already know where the candidates will come from. Like I always say, it will save us money and reduce rancor. The emergence of any of these three as next governor of Anambra state will surely concretize the principles of zoning.

THE TONY NWOYE TICKET
Tony Nwoye's candidacy is like a full dose of blood tonic to the body of APC. Tony Nwoye proved that he is the grassroots general when he received half of the entire electoral votes from the so called CORE APC member delegates. There was neither rigging nor magic. 2,146 out of the 4,600 ballot papers were thumbprinted legitimately for the man fondly called Ayaka Nsugbe.
The delegates simply chose Tony Nwoye and by so doing has vindicated those of us who clamored for a popular candidate with a chance to win the November election. Vox populi, vox Dei. (The voice of the people is the voice of God).

Refer to my recent publication "I speak the truth and nothing but the truth" where I stated that APC has never won any election in Anambra state. It's a fact, but today I make bold to say that victory is in sight for APC. This young man's emergence is a solid 'ginger to our swag'. His candidacy is a boost to APC which on August 26th underwent a deliverance of sorts. Yes. Now we have a new APC that will go places if well managed.

I must congratulate the entire members of the APC Anambra state for perhaps the most peaceful and hitch free primary in the history of Nigeria. While it lasted, there was no single record of violence or pandemonium. Even under the very heavy downpour, our delegates lined up and cast their votes. We were on live television and the whole world watched bewildered as the dynamically fluid and friendly Governor Shettima held sway. He was infallible. He piloted the affairs with decorum. A man of peace who had tremendous power but a subtle heart. Did I tell u he was going round, cracking jokes and magnanimously dashing money to the delegates at random? An elderly man sitting not too far from me was one of the lucky beneficiaries and got 50k from Shettima. Kudos to APC. The Anambra guber primary of Saturday 26th August 2017 was a huge success.

WHAT TONY MUST DO NOW
Our candidate Hon Dr Tony Nwoye must immediately set up and head a reconciliation committee who will visit/pay homage to all the aspirants, especially the amiable gentleman H.E Senator Andy Ubah (Igwebuike) whose capacity  and clout is inevitable in this battle. Also Chief George Muoghalu (Ohamadike) , Engr Barth Nwibe (Ugo Igbo), Chief John Bosco Onunkwo and Chief Obinna Uzoh. Certainly, the support of these sons of Anambra south will be of immense value as we strive to win the zone landslide. Chief Sir Paul Chukwuma (Onyechinaazo) and Chief Chike Obidigbo (Osisioma) should also be wooed into the team to prosecute APC/Tony's success especially in Anambra north. These strong men must be discussed with immediately to assist in their own ways.

This committee of his point men, and women (led by Tony himself) will also visit our Leader Sen Dr Chris Ngige and other very important stakeholders of the APC in each zone, with a view of getting their full commitments to the project. Nobody should be left out. The primary is over and we are all one. It doesn't matter who voted for who now. The party machinery must also quickly embrace the candidate and ensure he is delivered on November 18.

This to me is the very first step even before making a concerted effort to assuage the fears of those "original" APC members whose major worry was alienation. Stakeholders are keenly watching and waiting to hear the names of the members of the Tony Nwoye Gubernatorial Campaign Organization. These first appointments are critical as they will determine the mindset and direction of the candidate. It will make or mar the campaign. It will either boost morale or dampen spirit.

Therefore, our candidate must continue to seek God's guidance as presenting a consciously very careful balance between his core loyalists in the APC, tested and trusted allies from PDP (who are now identifying with the project), the various volunteers who worked round the clock for little or nothing before the primary and the state machinery, will be his masterstroke. Unity of purpose is not negotiable. Everyone must be carried along. It's called "magnanimity in victory" and I know that Tony Nwoye is a champion in the art of peaceful   negotiations and resolutions. Like he always said to delegates: "I know how to share".

Funny as it sounds, in all these, the Anambra PDP will be the worst hit by this Tony Nwoye's APC candidacy. Why? At least 60% of PDP members (especially youths) have already joined Tony Nwoye since 27th August. Did u see the convoy from the women development centre after his declaration? The clamor to identify with Tony Nwoye's aspiration is unprecedented. As PDP Anambra state chairman, Tony surely made more friends than enemies.

I will close this piece with the words of Stephen Shwartz. He said: "Every project has challenges and every project has its rewards". As we proceed towards November 18, let's be strengthened by our knowledge of the fact that nothing good comes easy. May God delete from among us the treacherous and guide us towards the path of victory.

The Plot to stop the re-election of Governor Ben Ayade in 2019 has taken a new twist as not only the oppositon APC is planning to stop  his bid to continue in 2019 but they is now a serious threat from his own ruling People Democtatic Party. Ahead of Defection: Ayade Meets With APC South-South Caucus .

Strong information reaching our newwsdesk suggest Cross River governor Sen. Ben Ayade has heightened plans to defect to the All Progressive Congress. The governor is said to have met with leadership of the APC at the South- south level spearheaded by Transport minister, Rotimi Ameachi. The governor allegedly pleaded with Ameachi to provide a soft landing for him in the state as he defects with all his political structures. The rumour of the governor defection has been making the rounds for more than a year now, but this heightened decision to defect is not unconnected with the supreme court judgement with declared Markarfi as the authentic national chairman of the PDP. Ayade has been a supporter of the Sheriff faction and so is said to be scared of his future in PDP under the chairmanship of Markafi who he expects to take his own pound of flesh when the time comes. ASUU Declares Indefinite Strike From Monday 14th August

Following the outcome of the referendum meeting held Sunday afternoon in Abuja by the union leaders, the Academic staff Union of Universities has declared an indefinite strike from Monday 14th August 2017. This the Union leader says is to persuade the Federal government to meet their demands. This came after several branches of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have voted overwhelmingly for members in both federal and state universities to embark on an indefinite strike to press home the implementation of their demands. ASUU branches nationwide on Friday held a referendum in line with an earlier directive by the National Executive Council (NEC) to vote whether the strike will be indefinite strike, one month strike, one week warning and no strike. APC Chieftain Embarrases Ayade, Donates Bridge To Community.

An APC chieftain Chief Ray Ugba Morphy has embarrassed Governor Ben Ayade when he single handedly constructed a bridge for the Ukpagada community in Ogoja even when the governor has not been able to complete any infrastructural project in the state since he was elected. The Ukpagada community had been cutoff from the rest of society for more than  52 years as the only bridge linking them to town was destroyed destroying during the Civil War and as such were unable to convey their farm produce to the market and earn revenue for themselves. There are indications that all is not well in Cross River State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over claims by the state’s National Assembly Caucus of highhandedness and non-inclusive congresses by Governor Ben Ayade. The lawmakers from the state in a letter to the National Chairman of the PDP dated October 12, 2017 warned that unless something urgently is done to remedy the situation, the party stands a poor chance in the 2019 elections. Imoke Mocks Ayade, Says He Did Better Even As A Sleeping Governor.

Former Cross River Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke has chided his incumbent, Senator Ben Ayade over his (non) performance. Imoke told an audience of teeming youths during the 7th edition of ‘The Bridge Leadership Foundation’ that people use to describe him as “The sleeping Governor,” when he was in office but that he constructed rural roads which was a major achievement in his administration that lasted from 2007 to 2015; though truncated twice by court judgments where he was sacked. “When I was governor you people said I was a sleeping governor, but I think you would appreciate a sleeping governor who constructed rural roads across the 18 LGAs than what you have now,” Imoke said in apparent reference to Mr. Ayade’s poor performance in road construction.
